Well, I was going to try adding a side bar with links, my email address and such, along with a couple of pictures, much like what Cailet has on her page but when I did and then checked the page it was a disaster. Obviously my HTML skills need working on, so until I figure out how to do it I'm just going to leave it the way it is now. In the mean time I can post a picture of Myself & Rocky at Service Dog Training a couple of weeks ago. Rocky is the Yellow Lab on my left, Ruby is the Irish Setter on my right. Ruby belongs to the trainer, and is used a LOT to try to distract Rocky when he's "working". The point there is to get him to pay undivided attention to ME and to what he is doing, no matter what distraction may come along. We have also used other dogs at various times. The single biggest distraction that we can't get past yet is little kids. Since Rocky is only 7 months old and still VERY much a puppy, and he LOVES kids, working around kids poses unique difficulties right now. As his training goes forward this distraction will also be over come.

And a picture of Rocky in a down stay while I roll around the training hall;

His eyes never came off of me. Anyone that knows anything about Labrador Retrievers KNOWS that at 7 months getting them to "Down Stay" is hard enough, add to that the fact that I am rolling around the area, and Ruby is also roaming freely knows this was hard as hell for Rocky to do. We managed to keep him in the down stay for 20 minutes before he really started crying.

Some days are just too long Weather: Mood: Tue Jan 31, 2006 3:34
Today was one of them. Teaching all day is no problem, having a 3 hour staff meeting AFTER teaching all day is a pain in the ass. We have a new ASSistant Principal, so she felt a mandatory staff meeting was in order. She wanted to introduce herself and make sure we ALL understood that we should come to her with any problems and then she would take those that need his attention on to the principal. I listened to all this BS of hers for about an hour and a half, then I made a simple remark that if I had a problem that I couldn't handle I would take it to the Principal myself. That's what he gets the big bucks for. If she wants to handle the discipline problems that's fine, that IS her job, but if I had a problem that I needed help with I wasn't going to take it to her and wait for her to decide if the Principal needed to be BOTHERED with it. Well, she didn't much like that, but then everybody got into the act saying the same thing. Finally the Principal himself came in, heard the Policy changes she wanted to make and shot her down COLD. The system in place works just fine, if it aint broke, don't fix it. Seems she came to us because the Principal at her old school just couldn't deal with her anymore. Don't know how long she'll last with us, but at least we put her in her place QUICKLY. She the kind of shit I can stir up. Now I'm in bed with an Ice Pack on my head because it feels like it's ready to EXPLODE. So it's two Oxycodone and the ice packs.

Peace&Love,

PS: For those that don't know Rocky, he is my Service Dog. I am paralyzed from the nipple line down, and recently started losing some of the function in my hands, I have good feeling in them it's just that the fingers have curled in against the palm and it makes things a little more challenging. You mught find reading my Information Page at Live Journal helpful If this works right you'll find that page HERE Also, the Peace&Love sign off has been my trademark sign off dince the beginning of my blogging days. ~Mark

New User Weather: Mood: Mon Jan 30, 2006 2:35
Well, I opened this journal because I misread what it said on my web cam page. In the profile there it gives me the chance to put in my journal user name which I did but I didn't catch the fact that it said LiveLog journal.

I was an early adopter at live journal, and worked their abuse team for quite a while thus earning a permanent account. Fortunately I got out of the abuse team there before it all went to hell in a hand basket.

I still have my journal there and will keep it there while trying to remember to post here as well' Over there I'm known as mark3.

Anyway, this post is actually being made at 9:31 PM EST on Sunday Jan 29, 06 and as a high school teacher tomorrow morning is going to come early, so good night all. ~Mark
